Los Loros

So just some random pics for the family, they have nothing to do with the title. Los loros is the Spanish word for parrots. One evening a while back my friend was driving me to the hair salon and as we pulled up to a stop light she said, "Do you here all that noise?" She rolled her window down and sure enough it was an almost deafening cacophony. I of course wanted to know what on earth could be so loud. Apparently there are these green parrots that live up in the mountains that we live next to and they come down to this one tree lined boulevard every night to roost. Unfortunately it was already dark, so I couldn't see the birds but there was no doubt they were there. I just couldn't believe it. Being from Michigan I am used to seeing robins and cardinals and blue jays but parrots out in the wild - no way. Fast forward a few weeks, my parents are here visiting and the first night we decide to go out to eat, the restaurant is on the third and top floor of a strip mall on that same boulevard and of course there is outdoor seating. As we walk to our seats I look out and see thousands of green parrots in the trees. I'm not sure I remember much about the food but it was absolutely breathtaking watching these birds fly around. And they were sooo noisy. Then just a few days ago I was working out at the gym - which is on the same boulevard again and has all glass walls (on the third floor) - and as I was lifting weights I looked out the window to see more parrots. This time I could see them really well because they were in a dead tree (no foliage) not too far from the window and it was during the day. It was amazing just to watch them sit and nuzzle each other. What a special reminder of the beauty that surrounds us every where we are. Isn't God good?
