Sickness and Birthday Maddness

Where has the time gone? Wasn't Christmas just last week?? Why didn't anyone warn me that having two childrens' birthday within a month and a half after Christmas is INSANE? If you haven't guessed I am feeling slightly overwhelmed. For the last three weeks either Anthony or Zac has been home sick with this crummy cold, and then of course there were those 3 snow days in the last two weeks! I couldn't wait for everyone to leave me alone in the house this morning! We also had everyone over for the boys' birthday this weekend - that's 17 people in what I always thought was a good sized kitchen - it turns out that it is not so big after all. But we had fun. It was so nice to see everyone and visit and see my three precious nephews, although I was pretty busy cooking. Did I mention the boys decided they wanted to have breakfast for their birthday dinner? Breakfast, meaning eggs,bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and pancakes, seems like a simple request but everything has to be cooked at the last minute there isn't much you can do ahead of time. And did I mention 17 people - I had to scramble 24 eggs! I've never seen that many eggs outside of the Big Boy breakfast buffet. Yikes! I think it all turned out well and like I said everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The boys' didn't give us much in the way of birthday present ideas, I guess they were still burned out from Christmas too. So they got a lot of money and gift cards. Joe and I have been so busy (feel like I haven't seen him in a few months - if you're reading this honey - LOVE YA ;)) that we didn't even get the boys gifts yet. I know we're in the running for parent of the year award and the year has just begun. Maybe we'll wait and give them something on their half birthdays.
Anyways, I do want to say how truly blessed I am with two wonderful, loving boys that I get to share my life with. I am so proud of the young men they are becoming.
