Smashing Pumpkins

So I'm up on the roof the other day hanging my Christmas lights (yes that's right I hung them up before Thanksgiving - but when you live in Michigan you've got to take advantage of good weather when you get it) and this little blond head pops up over the top of the ladder. "Can I kick my pumpkin Mama?" I must not have given the answer he was expecting because his jaw dropped when I said, "Sure just take it to the driveway." Pretty soon I am hearing lots of laughing and fun so I can't resist taking a break and climbing down the ladder. And as I do I see Anthony riding full speed at the pumpkin on his bicycle. Who knew pumpkins could bring such joy after they've already started to mold? I guess I can now see why kids like to go out smashing them - not that I condone that. But boy did my kids have fun destroying their pumpkins. The only bummer was when they realized that they had quite a mess to clean up!
