Joe's Baby
Here it is, the new car. I told Joe that he is a little young for his midlife crisis car (it's a SAAB - don't ask me anymore, I don't know details). He is very excited about it, I hope he enjoys it - he'll need to keep for a long time, say until Anthony is driving! The thing that is concerning me is that it is a manual transmission. Now two of my uncles attempted to teach me to drive a manual when I was about 16, and that is the last time I have tried. My Uncle Brannen taught me in Oregon in his beater truck. He thought it would be good practice for me to start and stop on a hill (those of you in Michigan and other flat places - read MOUNTAIN). Well, as is no surprise to anyone I could not manage to get the truck going once we stopped on the HILL. Then and only then did my Uncle inform me that his parking brake didn't work, you can imagine my amusement upon this revelation. What followed next was quite an acrobatic display, me keeping my foot on the brake and sliding out the door as my uncle slides over and adds his foot to the brake pedal. Oh and did I mention that I believe my brother was also sitting in cab with us? Needless to say I am REALLY looking forward to relearning how to drive a manual, at least there are no mountains in Michigan!Other than the new car, not much has been happening here. Just the usual happy activities of beating each other to death and then crying and whining about it. Then we spend time complaining that we are bored. I love summer vacation! When does school start again?
