Digging + Rain + Boys = FUN!

And you thought the boys learned to dig in the dirt and get muddy from Joe! I just wanted to show you that I know how to get dirty too! For our anniversary, I asked Joe to buy me some flowers to plant alongside our brick path up to the house. As you might be able to see, I chose a very rainy day to be out planting. But it is done and now I will always have the flowers to remind me of our 11th anniversary.
Now, on to the boys, their digging was completely unrelated to mine but happening at the same time. It seems my boys have inherited the hole digging gene from Joe. I tried very hard to scan in a picture of Joe next to a giant 9 foot deep hole that he and his brothers dug under their swingset when they were 10, 8, and 6. It was quite the hole! Now that I think of it, we have a picture of Joe's Grandpa Freeland in a huge hole that he dug. It seems this digging gene goes back a few generations! So back to the present, Anthony, Zac, and our neighbor decided to go in backyard and dig, for fun I suppose. They dug quite a hole and got very muddy in the process. But a good time was had by all. That is, until it was announced that to enter the house they must strip down and go directly to the tub without touching anything. If their father is any indication, this was the first of many holes that I will see in our yard!

You are right Jen, you also know how to get deep down dirty. I do recall a few times having to rinse you with a hose before allowing you into the house. But I agree that the actual gene for digging comes from Joe. I'm sure he was the king of digging, amongst other things that I perhaps don't want to know. Grammie's are just too protective of those precious boys.
