Oregon Adventures

As you can well imagine, a lot has happened in the month since I last posted. We have been on a whirlwind of adventures. On July 7 and 8 the movers were at our house packing up all our wordly posessions. It was so wierd to see our house completely empty. Then on July 9 we took off for Oregon. We stayed with my Uncle Brannen and Aunt Julie and had a wonderful time. The first night we were there, the boys played a little baseball with Aunt Vicki -she LOVES baseball, Uncle Brannen, And Aunt Valerie. Then Aunt Valerie hit a fly ball and we lost Aunt Vicki's new pink ball in the field. We were never able to find it - so sad :(
The boys' favorite part of our visit was probably playing with my aunt and uncle's baby - Billy the dog. They could not get enough of him - and he actually really seemed to enjoy them which is surprising since they say he is like a cranky old man - he doesn't like to cuddle or do "dog things."

One day we went to Multnomah Falls and hiked up to the top and beyond - a five and a half mile hike. It was a gorgeous day and a wonderful hike. The boys were troopers and actually ran most of the way up to the viewpoint - a very steep, switchback trail, straight up the side of the mountain. I was very proud of both of them. On another day we went white water rafting down the Deschutes River. I don´t have those pictures yet they are on my disposable waterproof camera that hasn't been developed yet. It was so fun, the boys did great and no one fell out! We even went through a Class 4 (out of 6) rapids!

We also spent the night at my Uncle Bill's beach house in Lincoln City. The boys loved walking on the beach and playing with Billy. We got up extra early and walked the beach at low tide to see the tide pools. They were so cool - tons of starfish and sea urchins. We visited the aquarium in Newport. We also celebrated my Grandma's birthday with a wonderful dinner and super yummy banana cake. The boys had a great time swimming in her pool. This was such a wonderful, special time - I just wish we could have shared it with Joe!

Oh and of course we got to ride horses! The boys got a lesson from the neighbor and even got to canter. Anthony loved it and now wants a horse - I think I have found an alli. I got to ride english on my aunt's horse, Buzz. I have never ridden english but I loved it! Anyways, that's all the time I have now. I will try to update more later.

Jen and family,

so great to get your postcard and visit your little corner of the web! Good to see you're enjoying yourselves during this busy time.

Needless to say, we miss you terribly back here in MI. Tyler hasn't swum in the pool since the boys have left. When I ask him why he doesn't want to go swimming, he replies,

"It's just not the same."

Couldn't have put it better myself.
